Hello eveyone,

This term Yr 6 will go adventuring in South East Asia! Well, maybe not literally (unfortunately) but I hope our research will be an adventure in learning and a wonderful online excursion into the geography, culture, and even some of the political issues of one of our not so distant neighbours, Vietnam.  As the learning progresses, I’d like to encourage the students to contribute to a class ‘blog’ to share some of their insights around the emerging themes of the unit.

What is a Blog?

A blog is a website where comments are posted on a regular basis. More information about blogs can be found here.

Benefits of ‘blogging’.

As blogging necessitates publishing of written work for a wide community of readers, students will need to think carefully about how they express themselves, as well as the many conventions of writing. They will not only reflect on their own learning, but collaborate to share and build on the collective opinions and learning of the class. Some of the benefits of this type of activity are listed below.

A very good article on the value of ‘blogging’ in primary schools can be found here.

I know the students will enjoy having a wider audience for their work, and we look forward to your involvement as readers.
